vernal pool monitoring

NEW! Vernal Pool Monitoring Interim Report (November 2020)
CAWS is initiating a program that will monitor vernal pools across a spectrum of developed landscapes. Inspections will begin pre-development, and will continue annually for 10-15 years after a property is developed. The goal of the program is to understand how pool-breeding amphibians respond to varying degrees of development in the surrounding landscape, in order to design future projects that will limit these impacts.

To learn more about this exciting program, take a look at our Fact Sheet.  If you are interested in participating in this program, please contact one of the people listed in the fact sheet to sign up.

  • All volunteers must sign a Data Disclosure Agreement Form.
  • Volunteers will need to provide a Data Form for each pool that is monitored.
  • All monitors will adhere to the following Protocols that we have developed for monitoring vernal pools.
  • Landowners who have a vernal pool on their property and wish to participate in our program must agree to the conditions found in our “Agreement to Participate” form.

Thank you for your interest in our Vernal Pool Monitoring program.
